Sri Patana Hotel "Buddha" House
Under Construction in 1967
View from the roof ...
One of the finest hotels that I
have had the privilege of staying
at has a lot of sentimental value to moi as it sits in a part of
Korat that I am very familiar with and spent a lot of time, the
Bar "Strip," the Las Vegas Boulevard of Korat, the (Bangkok)
Sukumvit Road of Korat ...
Notice - the little "Buddha" House, a tradition of any major business,
hotel, office complex or even a Thai home that practices the religion of
Buddhism. It is completely built; finished before the building
has been constructed and periodically, there will be religious ceremonies
held there at dates on the Buddhist Calendar as well as the grand opening.
(To the right,) is a photo of myself sitting at the table at the foot of
the little "Buddha" House; enjoying the atmosphere and the brand-new
Hotel in early 1968. I really can't recall if the Hotel was still
under construction in early '68, but I can assure you that it was on my
list of places to stay and I undoubtedly celebrated my promotion to E-5
there! ;-)
