Roy didn't say much about himself, ie, when he was in 

Thailand or what he is doing today!  He did mention being 

at Camp USARTHAI for 2 months and Camp Friendship for 10 

months.  Me thinks he had it backwards as a member of the 

697th, we closed USARTHAI and then moved to Friendship for a few months prior 

to heading for Sattahip.

  I'm sure Roy would have remembered Sattahip and Pattaya Beach

- if he went along for the trip!  ;-)

Tour of Duty in Thailand:  1968

  "I drove 5 Ton Trucks; before that, I worked in the motor pool

with SP/5 Sharkey pulling maintenance on all the generators."


Side-Note:  for those not familiar with the Hawaiian Islands and/or the Island

of Oahu where Roy calls home, the north shore area and specifically, Laie is

where one of the most beautiful Cultural Centers for Pacific Cultures may be

enjoyed and learn from in a park-like setting with amphi-theatre for demonstrations.
